Description

Rich and creamy hot chocolate made with real chocolate, topped with whipped cream and marshmallows — the perfect cozy drink for cold days. (Makes 2–3 cups)

Ingredients

Hot Chocolate

  • 500 ml (2 cups) milk – or plant-based milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar – or maple syrup/honey
  • 100 g (4 oz) semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Whipped Cream

  • 200 ml (¾ cup) cold heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp confectioner’s sugar (sifted)

Topping

  • Mini marshmallows

Instructions

Hot Chocolate

  1. Whisk cocoa, sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan.
  2. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking, then heat over medium.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add chocolate and stir until fully melted and smooth (about 5 min).
  5. Remove from heat and pour into mugs.

Whipped Cream

  1. Beat cold heavy cream + confectioner’s sugar on medium until soft peaks.
  2. Spoon or pipe over the hot chocolate, add marshmallows, enjoy warm.

Notes

Storage: Reheat on low heat, whisking until smooth. Avoid boiling to keep the texture creamy.

Tips:

  • Use whole milk for extra creaminess.
  • Chop the chocolate finely so it melts faster.
  • Whisk often to avoid lumps.
  • Warm the milk gently — no high heat.
  • Froth the milk if you want a café-style finish.
