These delicious Belgian Liege waffles recipe with sugar, a quick and easy homemade recipe. For 12 small waffles
Ingredients
- 200 g ( 1 cup) Milk
- 9 g (1 1/2 tsp) Instant yeast
- 450 g (3 1/2 cups) Flour -All-purpose
- 2 eggs - room temperature
- 1 egg yolk - room temperature
- 250 g (1 1/8 cups) Butter - unsalted
- 30 g (2 1/4 tbsp) Sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- 150 g (3/4 cup) Sugar pearls
Instructions
Waffle dough
- Rehydrate the dry yeast by incorporating it into the slightly warm milk and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Place the flour, sugar, and salt in the bowl of your stand mixer equipped with the dough hook and mix at medium speed.
- Incorporate the milk and yeast, then the eggs and egg yolk, and finally, the softened or melted and cooled butter. Continue to knead for 5 to 7 minutes until you have a soft and slightly sticky brioche dough.
- Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Then, incorporate the Belgian sugar pearls and mix again until you have a homogeneous dough.
- Divide it into 12 balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or on a lightly floured work surface.
Baking
- Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter for easy removal.
- Place one dough ball in the center of each waffle iron cavity and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until they are golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly or serve the Belgian waffles hot with your choice of toppings.
Notes
Storage: Up to 5 days at room temperature in an airtight box, up to 3 months in the freezer.
