Description

This delicious Nutella mug cake recipe is a quick and easy dessert, ready in just a few minutes in the microwave. Soft and gooey with a molten Nutella center, it's the perfect dessert for a quick chocolate fix. (Serves 1 mug)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp flour - 30 g (about 1/4 cup)
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder - 25 g (about 1/4 cup)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar - (about 1/8 cup)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil - 30 ml (about 1/8 cup)
  • 4 tbsp milk - 60 ml (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Nutella

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients—flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and brown sugar.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla, and stir until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the mug, then add the Nutella in the center and cover with the remaining batter.
  4. Microwave for 1 to 1.5 minutes at 800 watts until the center is fully cooked.
  5. Let it cool slightly before enjoying with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream.

Notes

Enjoy Immediately: The Nutella mug cake is best enjoyed warm, right after cooking, to fully appreciate the gooey center.

Not Suitable for Storage: Mug cakes can become dry if reheated, so it's recommended to prepare and enjoy it fresh.

Tips:

  • Use a large enough mug to prevent the cake from overflowing while cooking.
  • Add a spoonful of Nutella in the center for an extra gooey core.
  • Customize to your taste by adding hazelnuts, chocolate chips, or even a scoop of ice cream on top.
