Description

This delicious Nutella mug cake recipe is a quick and easy dessert, ready in just a few minutes in the microwave. Soft and gooey with a molten Nutella center, it’s the perfect dessert for a quick chocolate fix. (Serves 1 mug)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp flour – 30 g (about ¼ cup)
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder – 25 g (about ¼ cup)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar – (about ⅛ cup)
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil – 30 ml (about ⅛ cup)
  • 4 tbsp milk – 60 ml (about ¼ cup)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Nutella

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients — flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and brown sugar.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into a large microwave-safe mug, add the Nutella in the center, and cover with the remaining batter.
  4. Microwave for 1 to 1½ minutes at 800 watts, until the cake is set but still soft in the center.
  5. Let it cool for a minute before enjoying — it’s perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of warm Nutella.

Notes

Storage : Best enjoyed immediately. If needed, cover and keep at room temperature up to 4 hours. Reheat in the microwave for 10–15 seconds before serving.

Tips:

  • Measure ingredients with a kitchen scale for best results.
  • Mix just until smooth — overmixing can make the cake dense.
  • Use a microwave-safe mug (12 oz minimum) to prevent overflow.
  • Microwave in short bursts to keep a gooey center.
  • Add an extra spoon of Nutella before baking for a molten texture.
