Hello there! I'm Fadela, the recipe developer, food photographer, and blogger behind Sweetly Cakes. If you already know me from my sweet recipes featuring cakes, cupcakes, and other delightful treats, then get ready for a deeper dive into my journey and what brought me to this delicious space.
How it All Started
At 40 years old and with four children, my adventure started in 2010 with the birth of my daughter. Dissatisfied with my full-time job at the time, I began searching for a new path. This was when cake design was just starting to gain traction in France, sparking my inspiration to launch my own shop selling pastry tools. I named it Sweetly Cakes.
For 8 years, I ran my shop, diving into French and American pastry techniques to assist customers with their special occasion cakes. It's during this time that I also developed a passion for food photography. Through courses like FoodtoPhotography and EmPara Photography, I've enhanced my skills.
My gear has evolved from the Canon 1001 to the Canon 505D, and now I shoot with the Canon 5D Mark III.
My Journey into Cake Creation
After my youngest was born, I dove headfirst into cake creation. In 2018, I closed my shop to focus solely on blogging. Since then, I've honed my skills as a food blogger, aiming to create a magical world of pastry, especially centered around celebration cakes, to help you bring your dream cake to life.
On my blog, you'll mainly find party cake recipes, ranging from more advanced creations to easy ones for beginners. Like this simple vanilla birthday cake or the chocolate birthday cake requiring only 2 preparations.
I make sure to offer detailed step-by-step instructions to help you successfully recreate the cakes at home with your own tools. That's why I always suggest using a scale to measure ingredients accurately, especially since precision is crucial in French baking – it's practically a science where every gram matters.
If you're not sure where to start, I invite you to take a look at the recipe index. They're categorized into sections such as layer cakes, cupcakes, cookies, basic recipes, and more.
Favorite Recipes on the Blog:
Just a heads up, I'm originally French, and my recipe blog was initially in my native language. It's only after getting lots of requests that I started translating the recipes into English. Please excuse any mistakes; my English is still at a basic level, but I'm working on improving it. Overall, it's been a positive aspect of this adventure.
