Description

Recipe for Nutella-filled chocolate chip cookies with a gooey Nutella center and crunchy edges (for 12 cookies)

Ingredients

  • 12 teaspoons of Nutella (1/2 cup)
  • 120g of Unsalted Butter - softened (1/2 cup)
  • 100g of Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 50g of Brown Sugar (1/4 cup)
  • 1 Egg - at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 220g of All-purpose Flour (1 3/4 cups)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Sea Salt
  • 150g of Chocolate Chips (3/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Place 12 teaspoons of Nutella on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place it in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar using an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes until you have a creamy and homogeneous mixture.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla and beat again for 1-2 minutes to incorporate.
  4. Add the dry ingredients, the flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips and mix with a spatula or wooden spoon until you have a homogeneous and slightly sticky dough.
  5. Shape 12 balls of dough using your hands or an ice cream scoop, insert the frozen Nutella into the center of each ball and completely enclose it in the cookie dough.
  6. Arrange the cookie dough balls on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about 5 cm apart, and let them rest in the fridge for 30 minutes and in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes until golden brown on the edges and still soft in the center (they will firm up as they cool).
  8. Let the Nutella cookies cool slightly before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Notes

Storage: At room temperature in an airtight container for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Replace baking soda with 1 tsp baking powder.
