Description

Recipe for an easy old-fashioned apple galette recipe with sweet shortcrust pastry, applesauce, and melting apples (for a 10-inch/25 cm tart, about 10 parts)

Ingredients

Pie crust :

Apple filling :

  • 3 - 4 Apples
  • 4 - 5 tbsp applesauce
  • Brown sugar - or cane sugar

Instructions

Pie crust :

  • Follow my recipe for shortcrust pastry, respecting the quantities suitable for a 10 inches / 25 cm tart.

Assembly and cooking :

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F / 180°C and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Roll out your dough with a rolling pin between 2 sheets of parchment paper to a thickness of about 3 mm.
  3. Remove the parchment paper from the top and place the dough disk on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Fill the center of the dough with applesauce, leaving a 5 cm border of dough.
  5. Place apple slices on top of the dough.
  6. Fold the edges over the apples.
  7. Sprinkle the whole pie with brown sugar.
  8. Bake the apple pie for about 34-40 minutes until it is golden brown on top and the apples are tender.
  9. Let the apple galette cool before moving it to a large serving dish.
  10. Serve slightly warm or cold.
