I use this Nutella frosting as my go-to easy buttercream when I want a rich chocolate hazelnut flavor that pipes beautifully.

This simple Nutella frosting recipe gives you a soft, stable texture with just a few ingredients and no complicated steps.

    Why you’ll love this recipe

    • Super easy to make ready in minutes with basic pantry ingredients
    • Smooth and pipeable texture holds its shape for cakes and cupcakes
    • Rich Nutella flavor balanced sweetness without being too heavy

    Ingredients you need

    • Unsalted butter: softened at room temperature for a smooth and creamy base
    • Powdered sugar: finely sifted for a light and lump-free texture
    • Heavy cream: full-fat to adjust consistency and make it extra smooth
    • Vanilla extract: adds depth and enhances the Nutella flavor
    • Salt (optional): a small pinch to balance the sweetness
    • Nutella: for that rich chocolate hazelnut flavor and creamy finish

    Tips before you start

    • Use very soft butter to avoid lumps and get a smooth frosting
    • Sift the powdered sugar for a light and creamy texture
    • Add the cream gradually to control the consistency
    • Don’t overmix once smooth to keep a stable texture
    • Adjust with Nutella if too soft or too sweet

    How to Make Nutella Frosting

This Nutella frosting is based on my classic vanilla buttercream recipe.

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth, pale, and creamy.

Gradually add the powdered sugar while mixing until fully incorporated and fluffy.
