Chocolate granola is a delicious and crunchy snack that combines oats with rich chocolate flavors. It’s very similar to my basic granola recipe, but with a tasty chocolate twist, making it the perfect balance of sweet and savory for any time of the day.
This homemade granola includes wholesome rolled oats, chocolate chips, and a mix of nuts and seeds for added texture. It’s sweetened with natural maple syrup and enriched with a hint of cocoa powder to give it that irresistible chocolatey taste.
Enjoy your chocolate granola as a topping for yogurt, smoothies, or simply as a snack. It’s also perfect for adding to your breakfast routine or packing as a healthy snack for on-the-go.
Ingredients You Need
You will need these ingredients to make this chocolate granola recipe:
- Oats: The main source of fiber, perfect for curbing morning cravings. Use old-fashioned rolled oats, or substitute with wheat, barley, or buckwheat flakes. Choose organic and gluten-free if needed.
- Chocolate: Use dark baking chocolate chunks or melted chocolate for a rich chocolate flavor.
- Cocoa Powder: Use unsweetened cocoa powder, not sweetened cocoa.
- Sugar: Opt for natural liquid sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, or fruit puree. You can also use brown sugar, diluted in water.
- Oil: Choose a neutral oil like coconut oil, grape seed oil, or avocado oil.
- Nuts and Seeds: Add chopped nuts and seeds (almonds, hazelnuts, sunflower, flax, etc.) for texture and flavor.
- Chocolate Chips: Add after the granola has completely cooled.
- Vanilla and Salt: Add a pinch of sea salt and pure vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
