    Ingredients you need

You need these ingredients to make this no bake Oreo cake pops recipe:

    Oreo balls

    • Oreo cookies: We generally use regular Oreos cookies, not double-stuffed Oreo or any other Oreo flavor such as golden Oreos or mint Oreos.
    • Cream cheese: Use softened cream cheese as a binding agent, easily replaced by Nutella, mascarpone cheese or frosting such as buttercream.

    Coating

    • Chocolate: With melted chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips as shown here, or with milk chocolate chips.
    • Candy melts: Melted candy melts or deco melts are perfect for candy coating on cake pops, cake popsicles etc.
    • Crushed Oreos: Coat with crushed Oreo cookies , crushed nuts or other crumbs.
    • Decorative sugar: Sprinkles, nonpareils etc. on top of the chocolate coating for extra fun.

Step 3: Form cake balls of dough weighing around 20 g and place on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then let stand in the fridge for 30 minutes or 10 minutes in the freezer.

Step 4: Place a cake pop stick in the center of each chocolate cake pop, previously dipped in melted white chocolate previously melted in a double boiler or in the microwave, and leave to rest in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Step 5: Dip each Oreo cake pop into the melted chocolate, shake off excess chocolate, and place it on a cake pop stand or Styrofoam cake dummy.

Decorate with melted dark chocolate in a piping bag or pastry cone, or sprinkle a few crushed Oreo crumbs over the cake pops before the chocolate hardens.

    Tips for this recipe

    • Fine Crumb: For a smooth texture, ensure your Oreo cookies are finely crushed. A food processor works best, but if you don't have one, a rolling pin and a sturdy bag will do the trick.
    • Alternative Crushing Method: If you don't have a food processor, place the Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them into a fine powder using a rolling pin. This method is effective and ensures that your cake pops have the perfect texture.
    • Consistent Size: Use a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon to scoop the mixture. This ensures that all your cake pops are uniform in size and cook evenly.
    • Chill Before Dipping: Refrigerate the formed balls for at least an hour or freeze for 15-30 minutes before dipping into the melted chocolate. This helps them hold their shape.
    • Dip the Stick in Chocolate: Before inserting the lollipop stick into the Oreo ball, dip it into the melted chocolate. This acts as a "glue" that helps the ball stay on the stick.
    • Avoid Overheating Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate slowly, using a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently. Overheated chocolate can become too thick to work with.
    • Making Chocolate More Fluid: To achieve a smoother dipping chocolate, you can add a little fat like coconut oil or mycryo (cocoa butter powder) or a bit of vegetable oil. This will make the melted chocolate more fluid, allowing for easier and more even coating of the cake pops.
    • Use a Styrofoam Block: To let the cake pops dry without messing up the chocolate shell, poke the sticks into a Styrofoam block or use a cake pop stand.

    Storage

In the fridge: Oreo cake pops are best kept in the fridge, especially during the warmer months, in an airtight container box for around 4-5 days.

Freezer: You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. Let them recover slowly in the fridge.

    Variations & Substitutions

    • Chocolate Lover's Oreo Cake Pops: Use chocolate cream Oreos for the base, mix with cream cheese, and dip in dark chocolate for a double chocolate treat.
    • Mint Oreo Cake Pops: Start with mint Oreos, blend with cream cheese, and coat in dark chocolate. Drizzle with green-tinted white chocolate for a refreshing twist.
    • Birthday Cake Oreo Cake Pops: Use Birthday Cake Oreos mixed with cream cheese, dip in white chocolate, and sprinkle with colorful confetti sprinkles for a festive look.
    • Peanut Butter Oreo Cake Pops: Mix crushed peanut butter Oreos with cream cheese, dip in milk chocolate, and drizzle with peanut butter for a nutty flavor.
    • Golden Oreo Cake Pops: Start with Golden Oreos and cream cheese for the filling, dip in white chocolate, and sprinkle with crushed Golden Oreos for a vanilla delight.
    • Red Velvet Oreo Cake Pops: Use Red Velvet Oreos mixed with cream cheese, coat in white chocolate, and sprinkle with red velvet cake crumbs for a decadent dessert.

    Recipe Questions

Can I make Oreo cake pops ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare Oreo cake pops ahead of time. Simply store them in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve them. They're a great make-ahead dessert option for parties and gatherings.

Can I make Oreo cake pops without a food processor?

While a food processor can make the process of crushing the Oreo cookies easier, you can also crush them by placing them in a sealed plastic bag and crushing them with a rolling pin or mallet.

Alternatively, you can finely chop them with a knife. The goal is to achieve finely crushed crumbs for the mixture.

How can I prevent my Oreo cake pops from falling off the sticks?

To prevent Oreo cake pops from falling off the sticks, make sure the cake pop mixture is well chilled before inserting the sticks. Additionally, dipping the tip of each stick into melted chocolate before inserting it into the cake pops helps secure them in place.

Allow the chocolate to set before dipping the cake pops in chocolate for coating.

What can I do if my Oreo mixture is too sticky?

If your Oreo mixture is too sticky, add more crushed Oreo crumbs or refrigerate it to firm it up. You can also lightly dust your hands with powdered sugar or cocoa powder while rolling the mixture into balls to prevent sticking. Adjust the cream cheese to Oreo ratio if needed.

Why is my candy coating cracking?

Cracking in the candy coating can occur due to rapid temperature changes. To prevent this, ensure that the cake pops are at room temperature before dipping them in the melted chocolate.

Additionally, avoid overheating the chocolate, and gently tap off excess coating before it sets to create a smoother finish.
