    Best tips for this recipe

    • Frozen Fruit: Use frozen blueberries, frozen banana slices and other fruits to give a thick, icy consistency to your smoothie.
    • Natural Sweeteners: If you need extra sweetness, add natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or a date to avoid refined sugars.
    • Superfoods: Boost your smoothie with superfoods like chia seeds, hemp seeds, ground flaxseed, spirulina, or protein powder for an added nutritional punch.
    • Blend Well: Ensure thorough blending for a smooth texture, especially if you include ingredients like seeds.
    • Serve Immediately: After blending to enjoy the full benefits of vitamins and minerals before they begin to degrade.

    Storage

In the fridge: This smoothie can be drunk immediately or stored in the fridge and drunk during the day.

    Variations & Substitutions

    • Banana Boost: Remove the strawberries to make a blueberry banana smoothie; simply adjust the quantity of blueberries or milk for the desired texture.
    • Greek Yogurt Twist: For a thicker smoothie bowl-style version, use a blend of half milk and half vanilla Greek yogurt or regular vanilla yogurt.
    • Protein-Packed Smoothie: Incorporate your favorite protein powder like a vanilla protein powder into your smoothie for an added protein boost.
    • Nut Butter Kick: For extra flavor and an additional protein punch, add nut butter such as peanut butter like in this strawberry peanut butter smoothie, almond butter, or cashew butter.
    • Creamy Oats: For a heartier smoothie, add a spoonful of rolled oats or oatmeal. This addition will make the smoothie more filling and provide a good source of fiber.
    • Coconut Water: Replace the milk or yogurt with coconut water for a lighter, tropical twist that's hydrating and refreshing.

    Recipe Questions

Can I use ice cubes instead of milk?

Yes, it's quite possible, but the texture will be a little less creamy. You can also reduce the quantity of milk and add the other half of ice cubes.

Can I Use Fresh Berries or Frozen Berries?

Absolutely! Both fresh and frozen fruits work well in this smoothie. Frozen fruits provide a creamy texture and a colder temperature, while fresh fruits offer a slightly different texture.

Which berries are best in smoothies?

Berries like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are all excellent choices for smoothies.
